about

Named after the first episode in DOOM, Knee Deep in the Dead, Keys Deep in the Dead (KDD) features seven tracks from DOOM and DOOM II remagined as classical piano pieces, turning Bobby Prince Jr.'s MIDI metal music into dark lullabies.

KDD opens with the most recognized song from DOOM, At Doom's Gate, then follows with the first song featured in DOOM II, Running From Evil, two songs in E minor that flow into one another.

Deep into the Code begins with a slowed down solo with the help of a second piano, and builds up to a fun romp before The Demon's Dead take the KDD to its quietest, creepiest low.

Demons on the Prey picks up where The Demon's Dead leaves off and takes us into sinister territory with a woeful dirge. Track 6 is a mashup of 3 songs: starting with the music from The Demons from Adrian's Pen, the song begins with a horror movie-like melody before changing into more of a march when the refrains from Countdown to Death are heard. Countdown to Death takes over the song before it ends with a little goofy fun when the completely out-of-place bridge from The Healer Stalks comes in right before the fade out.

The album ends with Adrian's Asleep, a simple hopeless refrain that perfectly sums up the utter futility of the nameless character's struggle in DOOM, forming a kind of epilogue eulogy.

Your favorite DOOM/DOOM II track wasn't featured? There are two more albums coming later this year featuring other great songs reimagined.

Next up, The Strings of Hell, featuring reimagined DOOM and DOOM II songs using piano, and electric and acoustic guitars.
